A wonderfully evocative scene of Gibraltar's Upper Town area. This painting depicts Mediterranean style architecture, with shutters reminiscent of those commonly seen in Genoa and Malta, coincidentally where many Gibraltarians originate from. The long trudge up those long narrow lanes and steps is familiar to many locals. Mannia captures a lady making the journey up and children playing on the steps, a scene from everyday life which the artist was known to depict in many of his works.
