When Christian paints a cityscape he is not basing his composition on colours, but rather he looks for the vibrations and inner rhythm of the city. Influenced by the Spanish painter Antonio Lopez, he begins to explore time as the main theme in his works. He videos a place during different times of the day and night. Sometimes filming up to 7 or 8 hours for each subject. He then layers the work using reference from different segments of these recordings trying to capture an amount of time in the life of a subject rather than the subject itself. Many of the elements in this painting are a juxtaposition of the movement and the stillness, creating an energy all of its own.
