The Gibraltar Scouts Association and Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS) are delighted to announce the return of Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night.
On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, both organisations are inviting the community to form part of an extraordinary evening filled with excitement and fun. The event will be held at Little Bay Car Park on Tuesday 5th November 2024 between 7pm and 9.30pm.
The event will include a competition for the ‘Best Guy’, entertainment and food stalls. We encourage the community to get involved and celebrate this tradition, by producing a ‘Guy’. There shall be a participation fee for every guy submitted, with all proceeds donated to the GBC Open Day. The rules are as follows:
• Open to all ages.
• £5 entry fee (multiple entries allowed).
• Your guy must not exceed 1 meter in height.
• Must be made of flammable materials.
• NO METAL, NO PLASTIC, or toxic materials, including plastic wigs or stuffing.
• Old clothes, newspaper, straw, and paper mâché are welcome.
• Entries deemed unsuitable due to design, construction, or representation will be disqualified.
Find the entry form and rules at culture.gi/forms or at JMH Reception.
Minister for Equality, Employment, Tourism and Culture, The. Hon Christian Santos GMD MP said:
‘As part of my vision for Culture, I would like to ensure that we continually revive and celebrate Gibraltar’s traditional events for everyone to enjoy. I encourage as many youth, cultural, sporting organisations and businesses to produce a guy and that in that way we can ensure that such traditions are never lost.’
More event details will be released in due course. For further information, please contact GCS’ Events Department via email info@culture.gi or on Tel. 20067236.
